I finally got my hand on the steam deck! Valve’s new device is absolutelly a winner, but is it good for fighting games?

20.02.2023The analog stick doesn't have microswitches but with haptic feedback set to max you can simulate the effect. The Steam Controller could do it so I figure the Deck must be able to as well.

18.10.2022I am definitely disappointed for fighting games. Can't play Tekken 7 , Ultra street fighter 4 , Injustice 2 and more

18.10.2022For a small Company like Valve, they really out did themselves a great Job for making a better Portable/Pocket Console like the Steam Deck better than Nintendo did with the Wii-U and Switch.

18.10.2022Glad to see you doing this test, i kinda want to get one of those Steam Decks, just to be able to get PC games and play with friends that only play on PC, but my biggest issues/questions are: Can you display the screen on a TV or any kind of big screen via HDMI, and then can you plug an arcade stick on it, or even better 2 sticks? I didn't knew there were 4 buttons on the back of this machine, the PS Vita had a sensitive rear pannel and it was pretty useless; i'm sure those 4 buttons on the back will be very usefull, they should have put a few more XD This machine got D pad, 2 sticks a front sensitive pad thingy, 4 front buttons; 4 triggers, and 4 back buttons… is it made for octopusses or humans? XD Joke aside, i'm glad to see and hear from you that our beloved fighting games are running smoothly; but i was also thinking it would have been a guaranted thing. Well i'm waiting for more/in depth review of this thing from your point of view. Thx for the review buddy, and keep that shit up! ^.^v

18.10.2022I think it’s probably best to just get a gaming laptop. LOL! I too also preordered this. Maybe I’ll wait for the Steam Deck II. I just wish KOF 2002 UM, ‘98 UM FE, & XIII was on the Switch. I found a great dock for the Switch as well that you can use for Desktop & TV Mode and has 3 USB Ports in the back to stick your Fight Stick or Fight Pad of choice.

18.10.2022I got mine recently too. The left stick feels great for fps and Multiversus but not so much for traditional fighting games, probably because the round edge acts like a circular gate.

18.10.2022I was definitely considering the SD for fighting games, I appreciate the call out, dude

18.10.2022For fighting I suggest you play on Tv set as 60hz and switch the Tv Settings to Gaming Mode then play with Playstation,Xbox or Nintendo Controller

18.10.2022Hi when it comes to fighting games and lag issues what is better steam deck or laptop?

17.10.2022The Dpad sucks unfortunately. Pressing diagonal up left either doesn't register or you just go hard left and it's the most annoying thing. Can't play Crash comfortably on this thing because of that. :/

17.10.2022Can you do 2 players on steam deck?

17.10.2022Do your special moves on the trackpad. Trust me you'll never go back.

17.10.2022Here is a solution, use a 3rd party controller or stick for fighting games.

17.10.2022not really if you're using its gamepad. those buttons are suck position. you need bluetooth controller.

17.10.2022You don’t have to deal with the Steam Deck with baby gloves. It’s terrible for fighting games. I thought it was just me but no. Especially fighting games that have counters and air combos. No way you’re gonna be competitive with the Deck. Most fast reflex games were the same results. One of the reasons I got rid of mines. The slow open world games with pretty colors is fine, but games that are fast reflexes, not so good. I need to be able to knock down an opponent, double tap forward to get to him while he’s still on the ground, do a crouching short followed by medium canceled into a special move (fireball), and cancel that special move into a super (Kamehameha for example)

17.10.2022Really good review! Is the left trackpad positioned in a good spot for a D-Pad? I think it would be cool to design a mod that puts in a better D-Pad there. Hopefully on the Steam Deck 2 they add some modularity to the controls and let you swap parts out depending on the game/genre.

17.10.2022Has anyone tried Dead or Alive? I get lots of slow down and frame drops.
