Just by it being the oldest video game with the most active players on it of all time, makes it the GOAT. Because video games are not meant to be remembered or 'not played'. (Read that again. Don't make me repeat it.) If a video game has more active players on it it's because it's newer video game. If it's Older, it doesn't have as much active players on it. That makes it GOAT.

14.10.2022Any list that puts SF2 or any of its iterations in the #1 spot for the best fighting game is not to be taken seriously.
Even in the same franchise, not just genre, its basic formula was already surpassed by the likes of 3rd Strike. They only put SF2 due to nostalgia and nothing more.
What's worse is that the list said only 1 game per franchise, acting as if all the games are basically the same when that couldn't be farther from the truth. SF Alpha does not play like SF3 which does not play like SF4 which does not play like SF2 which does not play like SF5, and the differences are by no means subtle.
This list was NOT put by a person familiar with the genre, let alone a fighting game player.

14.10.2022Having owned versions of Soul Calibur on Xbox/360 and PS2-3 the Dreamcast version of Soul Calibur 1 felt the best to play by miles. The follow-ups felt to me like Tekken with weapons. Not that Tekken isn't great, and one of the best franchises on it's own, but they seem too close in later versions.
